Give them a second chance.
Take one of Bluey's heelers home!

These rescues need a home. You can give them one.
Heelers, also known as cattle dogs, are fiercely loyal companions. They are working dogs that were bred to herd livestock. They are generally energetic, fun loving, and extremely intelligent. They love nothing more than to have a job and to spend quality time with their owner. They are sometimes described as “Velcro dogs” because they never want to leave your side. This breed comes in two main color coats, blue or red. They are a hardy breed with the most resilient spirit. This breed is not suitable for everyone and potential adopters need to know that each dog’s personality varies greatly. They are a very misunderstood and abused breed. They can handle a lot of trauma and bounce back when given a proper home. Most animal shelters cannot even adopt them out to the general public because they are categorized as working dogs. These dogs do not do well in a constantly changing shelter environment. They shut down and are often labeled as aggressive due to their anxiety and nerves since they are high energy dogs left isolated in a kennel all day. They are not aggressive if they are socialized early on. Since they cannot be adopted from shelters by the general public, they are often the first ones to be euthanized for kennel space. That is why rescues like Bluey’s adopts them and finds their forever homes. We take time with each cattle dog to get to know their unique qualities so that we can place them in the best suited forever home. Many are great with kids and other pets. With proper socialization some thrive with other dogs, while some have to be the lone queen bee. We socialize them in a wide variety or ways so that we can give you as much information on your new bestie as we can. We make sure that each cattle dog in the care of our rescue gets veterinary care, including neuter/spay, core vaccinations, and microchip. We require all adopters to sign a “no sale” adoption agreement. If at any time you are unable to care for one of Bluey’s heelers, we welcome them back into our rescue with open arms for the life of the pet. No questions asked.
