Give them a second chance.

Take one of Bluey's horses home!

These rescues need a home. You can give them one.

The horses we rescue have seen a lot of mistreatment, abuse, neglect, and abandonment in their lives. Many believe horses from auctions and kill pens should not be rescued, but we don’t believe that. Just because they come from a bad place that they didn’t choose to be in, doesn’t mean they are bad horses and their lives have no value. Many of these horses find themselves in this place due to no fault of their own. The kill pen does not discriminate. Many of them are young with so much potential like colts and fillies that are just not broke to ride yet, some of them as young as a few months old. Many of them are lesson horses, former show horses, former race horses, and former work horses. Even pregnant mares find themselves there and give birth in awful situations with no vet care, no food, resulting in death. Many are victims of overbreeding. Many breeders over breed horses resulting in them being taken to auctions and bought very cheap by kill buyers. Horse slaughter was banned in the United States, but it is still legal in Mexico and Canada. The kill buyers hold these horses in extremely inhumane conditions where they are overcrowded in disease ridden enclosures often resulting in their deaths even if they are not shipped for their meat. Sometimes these horses spend months in these conditions waiting to be saved or shipped. Many just need a second chance. We rescue them from these horrific places they were in, and quarantine them to make sure no diseases are transferred. We immediately give them vet care and assess their physical and dietary needs. We can get them out, but they still need a home and a family. If they are not adopted, more space cannot be made to rescue more horses. They deserve to be loved and taken care of in their best suited home. We make sure that the home our horses to go are properly equipped to foster or adopt a horse. We don’t want a single Bluey’s rescue to end up in situations we rescued them from ever again. You can be the one to save a life today.

Adoption Process

  • Complete Bluey’s hope for horses/heelers adoption form below.
  • Mention which rescue you are interested in adopting in the form. We will reach back out to you via phone call.
  • Provide vet and boarding references as well as your history of owning animals.
  • We are very thorough when screening potential adopters. No applications will be approved without required information. Many people are not equipped to handle heelers and horses. We have to ensure their safety and well-being above all.
  • Schedule a meet and greet.
  • All adoptions require a signed adoption contract.
  • Transportation can be arranged for pickup.
  • If for any reason, at any time, you are unable to care for one of Bluey’s rescues, we will take them back, no questions asked for the life of the animal.

Adoption Requirements

  • All of our animals must be neutered, spayed, or gelded before adoption.
  • None of our animals are allowed to be bred. IF A BLUEY’S RESCUE IS BRED (horse or heeler), YOU ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE ADOPTION CONTRACT.
  • None of our animals can be sold or re-homed without our written consent.
  • We can repossess any of our animals if we find neglect, abuse, starvation, breeding, or resale. Violators of the adoption contract will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
